Every thing you wanted to know about Rhodes....................................

From the riches of the Old Town to the beautiful beaches around the Island, there is some thing for every one

Rhodes island combines natural beauty with a rich collection of historic sites and monuments from the ruins of Classical temples to Crusader castles.
In the middle ages(1310-1522) the island became the stronghold of the Knights of Saint John, whose main aim was to provide hospitality and protect the Christian pilgrims to the Holy Lands.
Even if you are not into sightseeing, a visit to the historical Old Town of Rhodes and the picturesque village of Lindos should not be missed

Rhodes, also known as Rhodos or Rodos in Greek, is considered the sunniest place in Europe with over 300 sunny days each year. The popularity of Rhodes island is also contributed to its natural beauty, rich history and great variety of historical monuments.
It's no accident that Rhodes is among the most visited of the Greek islands. Not only is its east coast lined with numerous sandy beaches, but the capital's nucleus is a beautiful and remarkably preserved medieval city, the legacy of the crusading Knights of St John who used the island as their main base from 1309 until 1522.

The castle of the Knights of St John in Rhodes town is one of the finest examples of Crusader military architecture in the world. The castle is really impressive and has been maintained in excellent condition. No wonder it has been proclaimed a World Heritage Site.
If you walk towards the small harbour and then turn right and right again you'll feel instantly transported to Medieval times surrounded by massive walls and towers. Visit the Palace of the Knights and walk along the cobbled streets and narrow alleys where a bazaar type market offers traditional crafts and other souvenirs.
